In this chapter i liked the part about finding funds to support classroom technology. i read about grants, proposal, and even partents with contacts to local businesses pitch in. I also read about how important the evaluation of educational technology is before the teacher starts teaching it. teachers can turn to websites and other resources to help them choose and understand which education technology is appropriate.
I learned how to use inspiration this week. i never knew what that was until this course. i think this will be very helpful to me and my career considering i want to teach elementary school. in elementary school i think the kids would be able to understand the concept of webs and maps.
I volunteered at pineview elementary school this semester for my EDF1005 class. i sat through and helped out in kindergarten and fourth grade classrooms. both of those grade leves set aside time to use computers. the students love it and can not wait to go to the computer lab. they see it as a fun thing and they are also learning, i disagree with anyone who thinks technology in the classroom is a distraction.

Like I said in blog #5 I really liked chapter six for its information on technology and curriculum integration. I especially learned a lot from the paragraph on page 343 under changing Instructional Strategies. In this paragraph the book says that teachers are changing from being the 'dispenser of knowledge' to the 'facilitators of learning'. I think that is the perfect way to put it. It is true, students can get information from anywhere, but teachers now motivate students to learn and show them the best way they can.
I continue to learn new things with powerpoint. the more I use it the more familiar I am with it and the easier it is to do it. I use to think making a powerpoint presentation was hard and tedious, now I kind of enjoy it.
Chapter six is probably the most interesting chapter so far. I did not expect to actually want to keep reading.

Chapter six talks about how the world wide web and how computers help students learn about different cultures and even communicate with other students around the world. chapter six also metions the best strategy for curriculum integration is to put technology in the hands of trained teachers; i agree with this completley. the only way technology can work to its fullest is if you know how to use it.
I learned to do new things with powerpoint. i now know how to make objects move around and how to apply different animations. i also learned that you can time your powerpoint presentation and you can set the slides to automatically change according to your time.
I really liked chapter six, for my introduction to education class i had to read a book by Todd Openhiemer. it is called "saving education from the false promis of technology. i did not like the book becuase i fully support technology in the classroom, i do not think it is doing any harm. it was nice to read something positive about technology after reading that book.
